The Haut Médoc appellation has only 5 Grands Crus Classés. Among these Grands Crus Classified in Haut Médoc, the best value for money/pleasure is undoubtedly Château Cantemerle. Built on the site of a very old fortress from which you can still admire a 16th century tower, Château Cantemerle produces a supple and vigorous wine.
It can be drunk very young, when charm and fruit dominate, and blend with the taste of vanilla from the barrels where it has matured. You can also drink it very old, when it displays this impeccable presence, this stripped-down distinction, and these incomparable aromas. In this way, it is similar to the few wines in the world that can go through several decades.
Château Cantemerle also produces a second wine, the Allées de Cantemerle. Coming mainly from the young vines of the Cantemerle estate, the Allées de Cantemerle is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot. Les Allées de Cantemerle is all the finesse and greed of a great Haut Médoc wine.
